So what's all this about then?
It's the Job to be Done. Everything else is the process.
Brief - identify - requirements - gut reactions - examples - end goals.
Let's hit the books?
Where does research come from - Is it endless hours looking at other peoples work? Is it hours of thinking, dreaming, tinkering, biking and ignoring the problem? All of that.
But mostly it's defining who the users are and how and why they do things. These are called 'Personas'. With these, we can storyboard and create some maps with feelings and goals. In a couple of words, research encompasses - Personas, journey maps, storyboards, needs, expectations, current-future-prior experiences, behaviours, uses, users & future uses.
